How YOU Can Support Cancer Active Right Now
Where We Are
At Cancer Active, we are a patient-focused nonprofit dedicated to improving quality of life, treatment adherence, and overall outcomes for individuals living with cancer through movement, education, advocacy, and community.
In addition to our ongoing programs, support groups, education panels, advocacy work, and community-based events, we are actively developing the Cancer Active Patient Portal (CAPP), a digital platform designed to:
- Capture meaningful, structured patient-reported data
- Help patients better understand and manage their experience
- Provide clinicians and researchers with insight into how real-world factors impact outcomes
I believe CAPP has enormous potential to help bridge a critical gap between clinical care and lived experience.
What We Need Right Now
To move from momentum to scale, our most immediate needs are:
1. Funding and Strategic Partnerships
We need support for the continued development and deployment of CAPP, along with sponsorships and donor support for Cancer Active programming.
We are also looking to connect with individuals, organizations, and strategic partners who are aligned with improving cancer care, patient support, and patient outcomes.
2. Clinical Insight and Credibility
We are seeking input on how patient-reported data can be most meaningful to clinicians, as well as guidance on how to position CAPP for clinical and research adoption.
We also welcome thought partnership around future study design and the best use of this data to support patients and inform care.
3. Strategic Introductions
We are looking for connections to:
- Oncologists
- Pathologists
- Researchers
- Potential sponsors
- Donors
- Industry and healthcare partners
We are also looking for opportunities to share Cancer Active and CAPP in the right settings, with the right people, at the right time.
Where You Can Make an Impact
There are several meaningful ways you can support Cancer Active right now. None of these options is exclusive. Whether through leadership, insight, advocacy, or connection, the right support can make a real difference in what we are building.
Option 1: Board of Directors
As a Board Member, you would:
- Help guide the strategic direction of Cancer Active
- Provide perspective at the governance level
- Support fundraising efforts through insight and connections
- Represent Cancer Active within your professional network
This is our strongest level of engagement and leadership.
Option 2: Advisory Role
In an advisory capacity, you could:
- Provide input on the clinical relevance and usability of CAPP
- Offer perspective on how clinicians interpret and use patient-generated data
- Help shape how we position Cancer Active within the broader healthcare landscape
- Serve as a thought partner as we grow
This option offers flexibility while still allowing for meaningful impact.
Option 3: Connector and Advocate
You could also support Cancer Active by:
- Introducing us to individuals who may be interested in supporting or partnering
- Helping us access clinical, research, or funding networks
- Sharing our mission and work within your circles
Even a small number of the right introductions can have a significant impact.
Why This Matters
Too often, cancer care still overlooks how patients actually experience treatment in their daily lives.
I believe:
- Quality of life is not secondary. It is essential.
- Patient-reported data should inform care, not sit unused.
- There is a real opportunity to better connect patients, clinicians, and researchers through meaningful data and community.
That is part of what we are building through Cancer Active, and specifically through CAPP.
Next Steps
I would welcome the opportunity to continue the conversation and explore how you might want to be involved, whether as a board member, advisor, connector, donor, or strategic partner.
If this mission resonates with you, I would love to hear from you! Reach out.
