Steve DeVinney

Board Member

Steve DeVinney was raised in Appalachia (Bristol, TN) and Northern New Jersey while his father was making his way through a career in pharmaceuticals, ending his career in oncology sales with GSK. Steve has been an enthusiastic if not speedy endurance athlete since the late 1990s with several marathons and a couple Ironman races under his belt. After diagnosis with advanced multiple myeloma in early 2021, he resigned himself that his athletic days were over due to low blood counts and hemoglobin levels.

Kenny’s sage advice a year later to “…just run 14-minute miles then…” and
encouragement to lace up the shoes daily started Steve back on his fitness journey and restored a major component of his quality of life.

Having seen first-hand the transformational power of the mission of Cancer Active, Steve values his role on the board and looks forward to expanding the organization’s reach and effectiveness.

Steve enjoys his time as an empty-nester with his wife of 32 years (Chris) and by trail running with his Poodle, Charley, mountain biking, and tinkering in the garage.
