Rachel Groves

Rachel has been involved in Cancer Active for several years volunteering with the groups spring 5K trail runs and annual Not A Sprint events. Her involvement reflects her passion for giving back and helping in her community.

Growing up in Western NC led to a long standing friendship with founder Kenny Capps which began in middle school. When Kenny told Rachel of his cancer diagnosis, she told him she would always be there, if that meant watching his children so he could go to appointments or mixing electrolyte drinks in coolers at 5am.

Rachel is a devoted mother whose life reflects a deep commitment to family, education, and community. She has raised five children, successfully putting two through college, with two more currently pursuing their degrees and one being schooled from home.

Throughout her career, Rachel has worked across a variety of fields, bringing integrity and a strong work ethic to every role. She has experience in real estate and worked with the Mountain Valleys RC&D for several years where she contributed to the public sector through her commitment to community service.

Currently, Rachel works as a substitute teacher in the Forsyth County, Georgia school system. In this role, she continues her lifelong dedication to children and education, positively impacting students through her support, encouragement, and leadership. She spends much of her free time visiting her girls in college, walking her pups, working in the yard and traveling back to WNC to visit friends and family.
